WHY LYNO?

We focus on the cause.. not the symptom

Our bodies work as a fully integrated holistic structure. If any part of this structure becomes dysfunctional, and in our field this means that the fascia in any part of the body loses mobility, it will affect the body as a whole and cause symptoms in other areas. This means that a restriction in fascia mobility in the shoulder could be the cause of chronic symptoms in a knee. By diagnosing and treating the symptoms in the knee, without the knowledge of fascia dysfunction elsewhere, the symptoms may disappear, but will eventually come back, because the original cause is still there. Our full holistic assessment not only provides the practitioner and therapist with a full body profile of fascia dysfunction, but also guides the practitioner to set up an effective treatment plan to resolve chronic pain and injuries.

What will we teach you?

THE BUNKIE TEST

The results of this test are closely related to the results of the FROM TEST (fascia mobility test). If the fascia is restricted anywhere in the body, it directly affects muscle function and causes dysfunctional patterns, which clearly shows up on the BUNKIE TEST. We use the BUNKIE TEST in our initial assessment to give us an indication of core functionality. We then repeat the test in follow-up sessions to measure progress. The test is always done with emphasis on perfect form and no discomfort.

THE FROM TEST

More than 20 years of exploring and experimenting took us to our current mobility test structure consisting of 50 tests to determine where movement is restricted in the body . The results from this important test gives us all the information we need to find the cause of recurring injuries. In order to speed up the assessment, the test is set-up according to test-positions. Once the practitioner has completed the recording of measurements, the app gives a full report of mobility from head to toes which allows the practitioner to do the analysis.

OUR TECHNIQUE OF FASCIA RELEASE

The brain, and specifically the sympathetic nervous system, uses fascia restrictions to support and protect specific areas in the body during emotional and physical trauma. This function may be essential at the time of the traumatic incident, but if not resolved, becomes the cause of chronic pain, extended emotional trauma or recurring injuries. If the brain is not able to self-regulate or does not process the information that healing has occurred, it will continue to provide support and protection, which then leads to chronic dysfunctional movement and chronic symptoms. The aim of the LYNO® TECHNIQUE is to provide the brain with the information that movement in the area is safe. We do this by guiding the brain towards full range of movement while simultaneously stimulating the neuroceptors on the skin and superficial fascia to engage the para-sympathetic nervous system.

YELLOW PAGE WEDGES

inspired by the late Ron Holder

The BUNKIE TEST directs us to the deactivated patterns of movement in the body. Once we have released the fascia restrictions responsible for this dysfunction, we use the LYNO® version of Ron Holder's Yellow Page wedges to reactivate these movement patterns by stimulating the proprioceptors underneath the foot.

The LYNO® APP

included in all our course assessments

The LYNO® APP tests and records our BUNKIE TEST with the built-in timer and the FROM TEST with the built-in goniometer. Once all the tests are recorded, the app processes the information and then provides the practitioner with the client's full Fascia Mobility Profile and a full treatment plan which shows exactly where and in which order to release fascia.

The FMP - Fascia Mobility Profile

Once you have recorded all the tests for fascia mobility, the LYNO® APP provides the practitioner with the FMP for each client, which is a visual demonstration of the exact areas where fascia mobility is limited. The FROM Test is repeated at the beginning of each section, which then shows the new FMP. By comparing the FMP images, both the practitioner and the client can follow the progress. The concept of 'peeling the onion' is well demonstrated here as clients can experience how, at each session, different layers of fascia immobility disappears, eventually resulting in a more flexible and functional body.

FAQ

  • Is it possible to do one Module only?

No, the 3 modules all form part of the full assessment. Module 1 deals with linear movement, Module 2 with spiral movements and Module 3 with the scapula and arm movements. All three modules are necessary to be able to do the full assessment and to build the client's FMP (Fascia Mobility Profile). When a student enrol onto the Module 1 eCourse, they automatically get access to the Module 1 part of the APP. Once they have completed their 12 Module 1 case study sessions, they automatically get access to the Module 2 APP and the Module 2 part of the eCourse, etc..

  • Do I have to complete all 3 Modules to be able to assess the full body?

Yes, the reason why we have divided the course into 3 parts, is to allow the students to capture each part fully before moving on to the next. We also expect students to do 12 practice sessions on case studies (family members or friends who volunteer to act as clients), before they move on to the next module.

  • Do I have to complete the final exam?

No, you may bail out before the exam, but if you want to be able to use the LYNO® APP in the future, you will need to pass the theory and a practical exam and become a licensed practitioner. It is important for us to ensure that every practitioner who use the LYNO tests and app follows a certain standard of practice.

  • Do licensed practitioners pay a license fee?

Yes, once you have passed the theory and practical exams, you will sign a Membership Declaration which includes the Lyno Code of Conduct and you will pay a monthly subscription fee which gives you access to the LYNO® APP, all updates on tests and techniques, practitioner forums, refresher courses and all our branding material. The monthly subscription is US$30.

  • Can you advertise that you practice the Lyno Method if you have completed the full course but are not licensed?

No, Lyno is a trademarked brand and only licensed practitioners may work under the brand name. You may of course use the concept without advertising it as Lyno.

  • Is there a time constraint to finish each module?

Yes, we allow 9 months to complete the eCourse; 2 months to complete Modules 1 and 2 and 4 months to complete Module 3 and the exams. Students who attend our (part-time) practical courses take an average of 6 months to complete the course and become a licensed practitioner. The content of the eCourse Modules is exactly the same as the practical courses. The practical modules are taught as a weekend course and consists of 15 hours of training. On the eCourse we allow 1 month to work through the material of each module. The only way to become an effective practitioner is to practice the process regularly. Students often take 2 hours or more to complete a practice session in the beginning where as we want them to be able to complete a full session in an hour by the time they become licensed. This can only be achieved by regular practice.

  • Can Lyno be incorporated with other treatment modalities?

The essence of Lyno is the holistic assessment of movement. The assessment shows exactly which parts of the body have limited movement due to fascia restrictions. Once you know where the cause is, you can use different modalities to restore movement in the area. We have done many years of experimenting and the technique that we are currently using works fast, is pain-free, has no side effects and is very effective. Our results speak for itself. Licensed Lyno Practitioners should use the Lyno technique as their first option, but non-licensed practitioners may find that their own modalities are equally effective.

  • Who would benefit most from doing this course?

Therapists who work with clients or patients with chronic injuries, Sport Coaches, Exercise Trainers and Instructors will all benefit by being able to point to and deal with the cause of their clients's chronic symptoms.

  • Will there be any online support for students while doing the eCourse?

Yes, all students are invited to join weekly live Zoom meetings with Benita Kropman where they can ask questions and discuss case studies as well as interact with fellow eCourse and practical course students.

Your Investment

The cost of the LYNO® eCourse is US$1500 which includes all 3 Modules and the theory and practical exam. Students from countries with a weak currency, may contact us directly to apply for a discount.
